CRISTA Ministries helps those in need locally and globally

CRISTA Ministries is comprised of seven distinct ministries that each have their own unique vision and mission, but are united by a common passion for helping those in need globally and locally. This story is sponsored by CRISTA Ministries.

SEATTLE — CRISTA Ministries is a Christian organization based in Seattle with seven unique programs that aid those in need all over the world.

Jacinta Tegman, the new CEO of CRISTA Ministries, was hired for her long history of leadership and dedication to relief and development agencies across the globe. She is the first woman to serve as CEO of the organization.

CRISTA Ministries is comprised of seven distinct ministries that each have their own unique vision and mission, but are united by a common passion for helping those in need globally and locally. This includes summer camps, schools, a veterinary mission, a senior living facility, a program called WorldConcern, where Tegman previously served as president, and more.

"We serve so many," Tegman said, "Internationally and of course in our own neighborhood. We serve about eight million people, and I would say we are really there to meet human needs, whether that's a child who is dying of malnutrition or a young student who has ambition to grow up and be the president."

While they are a faith-based organization, Tegman said CRISTA's services are for anyone who has a need.

"I think that really is representative of the heart of our staff," she said. "We are really there to serve, and I think that's how we stay relevant and how we meet needs in the community."

World Concern strives to abolish the core causes of poverty and emphasize livelihood training, literacy and education.

"We hear so many things in the media and in the news of what people are against," said Tegman. "CRISTA is all about what we are for. We're for young people, we're for seniors, we're for the marginalized, the poor, the broke and the hurting. I think there's just a tremendous amount of young people who want to change the world and make it different, and there's a place at our table."

CRISTA Ministries is always accepting volunteers, learn more on their website.
