Celebrity Chef Charles Chen showcases two delicious recipes you can easily and affordably dish up on busy school nights. It's important for kids to have foods rich in protein that will give them the fuel they need to stay energized throughout the day.

Chef Chen is working with Sprouts Farmers Market a natural grocery store that opened it's first Washington location in Mill Creek on Aug 15th. His focus is on healthy meals that use fresh, nutritious ingredients. Sprouts Farmers Market offers produce and products that promote healthy living at budget-friendly prices.

Chef Chen suggests utilizing Sprouts' bulk food section. Products that support specific dietary needs can be found at a lower price than at similar health food stores.

Zucchini noodles are a quick,easy, and affordable alternative to egg noodles.

Zucchini Pasta

"It's an extra serving of vegetables. It's light and it's easy, and it's delicious." -- Chef Chen

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cup almonds
  • 2 cups Sprouts Unsweetened Almond Milk
  • 1/2 cup Sprouts Nutritional Flakes Yeast
  • 3/4 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1 tbsp. Nutiva Hempseed
  • 2 tbsp. NeoCell Super Collagen Powder
  • 2 tbsp. tamari
  • 1 tbsp. lemon juice
  • 1 zucchini
  • 1 bunch fresh cut basil, thinly sliced
  • Pinch of cayenne pepper

Instructions:

  1. Spiralize zucchini to make pasta noodles.
  2. Blend almonds, almond milk, nutritional flakes yeast, collagen, tamari, and cayenne to make sauce.
  3. Pour sauce over zucchini noodles.
  4. Top with cherry tomatoes, basil, hempseed and lemon juice.
  5. ENJOY!
Coconut Collegen Bites

Coconut Collagen Bites

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup almond flour
  • 1 tbsp. Super Collagen PowderNeoCell
  • 1 tbsp. Sprouts Organic MCT Oil
  • 1 tsp. Sprouts Unsweetened Almond Milk
  • 2 tbsp. Justin’s Almond Butter
  • 1 tsp. Wholesome Organic Honey
  • 1/2 tbsp. Sprouts Organic Shredded Coconut
  • Pinch of salt
  • Pinch of cinnamon
  • Handful mini chocolate chips

Instructions:

  1. Combine almond flour, collagen, chocolate chips, salt, and cinnamon in mixing bowl.
  2. Add in almond butter, almond milk, MCT oil, and honey.
  3. Stir until well mixed and roll dough into small balls.
  4. Roll balls in shredded coconut to coat.
  5. ENJOY! (Best after 5 minutes in the refrigerator!)

Charles Chen’s Green Energy Smoothie

INGREDIENTS:

2 Cups of Water

Handful of Spinach

1/2 Avocado

1 Apple

1/2 Cucumber

1 tsp Chia Seeds (optional)

With the purchase of a participating Vitamin and Body Care items, Sprouts is donating 25 cents to Vitamin Angels, who uses that quarter to supply a year's worth of nutrition. Mill Creek's Sprouts location will also be donating unsold yet edible groceries to Food Lifeline to minimize food waste and assist in fighting hunger.
