SEATTLE — October is Cruise Month at AAA Travel, so it's a great time to book a vacation. Cruise Month was started years ago by Cruise Line International Association (CLIA) to promote and evangelize cruising. This means that there are a lot of deals available. You can find a vacation for any time of year, whether it is for winter break, spring break, a family graduation trip, or even a special anniversary.
"The deals are now and they either expire at the end of October or around November 15th depending on the cruise line," said AAA Travel Expert Lisa Anciaux. The cruise lines are offering different incentives like "kids cruise free," river cruises with free or discounted airfare to Europe, shipboard credit or shore excursions.
With so many great deals and options available for cruising, it is easy to get overwhelmed, "It's very important to use a travel professional because, I always say, 'The internet's for looking, travel agents are for booking!'"
For people who went on a cruise and didn't enjoy it, Lisa thinks they just didn't find the right cruise, and where an experienced travel agent can help, "We've got cruise lines that can be like Las Vegas and hold 6,000 people, we've got cruises that will be 30 people, we got cruises that you can kayak off the back of the ship. There's just such a variety, and we need to find that right cruise that fits your personality, and what you like to do."
