Some of the best ice cream in Washington is at Winegar's in Ellensburg

For nearly 20 years, Winegar's has been scooping out several flavors all named after family members! #k5evening

ELLENSBURG, Wash. — EDITOR'S NOTE: The above video originally aired in April 2015.

Winegar's is a family-run business. Emphasis on family.

In fact, when you get a scoop of Winegar's ice cream, you meet a member of the family. Each flavor is named after a Winegar relative.

"Kevinlicious is my brother-in-law," said Kori Winegar. "Kookie Kayla is my daughter. Margo's Cake Batter is my mother and Aubrey's peanut cup is my niece."

"Nutty Truman" isn't just maple ice cream with walnuts. It's named after the man who started the whole company.

That was back in 1956 when Truman Winegar bought a dairy farm outside Ellensburg. For Kori, visiting Grandpa meant freshly churned homemade ice cream.

"It was great. Very tasty. Because it had all the good stuff in it." says Winegar.

For nearly 20 years the good stuff has been in all the ice cream Winegar's has been selling in Ellensburg shops.

"I always wanted to make sure if we made strawberry ice cream it tasted like strawberry ice cream," said Kori. "I'd get tired of flavored stuff. I want the real stuff."

There's real cookie dough in both ice creams named after Kori's dad, Gary Winegar who was there, waving at kids in line.

"The most fun of this whole business is watching those little buggers take a lick and smile from here to here." said Gary Winegar. "It's great."
