A deal is going down in a SoDo neighborhood parking lot. Nothing to worry about. It's just Dave Lichterman handing off his much-talked-about pizza to eager customers.
The Chicago native's deep dish pizza company, Windy City Pie, opened less than a year ago. But it's already become the darling of foodies in search of Seattle's tastiest pan pizza.
Lichterman has been working on the recipe for the past decade, but was only able to pursue his dream full time after leaving a job in tech.
His modest kitchen space and small staff leave no room for on-site sales or an extensive delivery operation, so Lichterman exchanges texts with customers then serves up the pizza in a nearby parking lot.
If you're interested in trying a Windy City Pie, be sure to order ahead. Even a day or more in advance is recommended. It's well worth the wait.
