Windsor is waiting for the royal wedding

The City of Windsor is ready for the royal affair of the decade.
Harry and Meghan masks are among the most popular souvenirs for sale in Windsor, England.

WINDSOR, UK — Even for a town with its own castle, this is kind of a big deal.

"We haven't had anything quite like this in many years," said royal watcher and Prince Charles' former butler, Grant Harrold.

They've already staged a practice wedding procession through the streets of this medieval town, complete with horse and carriage. The barriers and banners are finally in place. Let the royal wedding begin.

In just a few hours, the misty eyes of the world will watch as Harry and Meghan wed in the world's oldest inhabited castle.

"People are very excited about it," said NBC London Correspondent Kelly Cobiella.

Cobiella said more than 100,000 visitors are expected, including 5,000 members of the media.

"A festival atmosphere," Cobiella explained, "but it's a lot for that little town to handle."

Security is in full force, of course, with heavily armed police guards and K-9 units.

Souvenir sellers are also mounting a massive effort, with Harry and Meghan flags, life-size cutouts and tins of tea.

Cobiella added, "You can buy just about anything you can think of."

Store manager Sandy Kaljinder will be keeping his shop open right through the ceremony, offering plenty of matrimonial merch, including his bestseller, the Megharry mug.

Windsor's Fudge Kitchen has created a special flavor just for the occasion.

"This is lemon and elderflower fudge." employee Emily Carter said. "It is the same flavor that Harry and Meghan are having for their wedding cake."

Windsor is ready. All they need now is a bride and groom.
