SNL star's one-woman show comes to town

Spokane's Julia Sweeney comes home with a new comedy show

SEATTLE — She was born in Spokane, graduated from the University of Washington and then rocketed to fame on Saturday Night Live.

Julia Sweeney's character Pat was a huge hit in the 90's but today it's seen as controversial. Sweeney will be talking about that and lots more when her very funny one-woman show comes to town next week.

"I thought I'll develop this one-person show to kind of show people I can still be funny," joked Sweeney. "And I want to talk about this whole process, about raising a kid, about launching a kid, what's it like to be in a marriage long-term, what's it like to be the good and bad of parenting through the teenage years and everything."

"I went to Second City and I got one of their small 50-seat theaters. And on Sunday nights I just started working on this show."

Julia Sweeney: Older and Wider is coming to The Neptune theater on February 1.
