BELLEVUE, Wash. — With the pastrami piled high and Matzo ball soup made fresh daily, you might think you've been transported to New York City – but you don't need to take a plane to get good deli in the Northwest.
Gilbert's on Main has been a staple in downtown Bellevue for 25 years. The restaurant serves both breakfast and lunch seven days a week. The menu features favorites like lox and bagels, pastrami and the restaurant's own take on a Reuben sandwich. Owner Steve Gilbert likes to say his version is reinvented and vastly improved. It's also really delicious. Unlike the original, Gilbert's Reuben has corned beef and pastrami on it as well as homemade coleslaw instead of sauerkraut.
The food is just one reason customers keep coming back. The other is Gilbert himself. They love his personality and he loves providing them with great service.
"I just want them to understand that we take enormous care and pride in welcoming every customer and make sure they have the best possible meal," says Gilbert.
A new addition to Gilbert's is the curbside pickup. You can now get the entire menu to go. All you have to do is call-in your order, park your car out front and they will deliver the food right to you.
