MAUI – From her iconic impressions on Saturday Night Live to starring in massive movies like Bridesmaids, Maya Rudolph is one of Hollywood's most talented comedians.
She's also a mom, who was more than happy to be interviewed by a "junior reporter."
Mae Piercy, age 7, is a longtime fan of the Angry Birds games. She chatted with Rudolph about the new movie, in which the actress plays an anger management chicken named Matilda.
MAE: "Your character stops herself from getting angry. How do you do that in real life?”
MAYA: “You know, it's very hard, I think we all experience that. But my son's school taught him a really nice trick, it's a good lesson which is to take a breath, smell the flower to breath in, and to exhale they say blow out the candle."
MAE: "Can you teach me how to talk like an angry bird?"
MAYA: "You have to think like a chicken, and I feel chickens are kind of serious. But then I also think that because she's an anger management coach, she really tries to talk very upbeat, so just think of trying to make everyone happy."
MAE: "Which other angry bird would you like to play?”
MAYA: “I kind of like Bomb.”
MAE: “I think Bomb is cool, too, because he can blow up things.”
MAYA “Yeah, I like that one."
MAE: "If you could invent a new angry bird, what power would it have?”
MAYA: “Ooh, that's a good question. It would have the power to actually fly. None of these birds fly. Because then it's a lot better than being flopped out of a slingshot, right?”
MAE: "When did you know that you liked angry birds?”
MAYA: “When I couldn't stop playing and should have been working."
MAE: "When you're not acting, what do you like to do the most?”
MAYA: “Spend time with my family, do stuff with my kids."
