Each week, The Morning Show's DJ John Richards from KEXP 90.3 FM makes recommendations to help us sort through the many incredible options for live music in Seattle's music scene.

This is KEXP's list of the Music that Matters for the week of 4/17.

LIVE MUSIC

  • WED 4/18 Y la Bamba- The Tractor - The Portland act’s fourth offering is a sweeping, playful and vulnerable collection that’s ripe with both musical and personal discovery. Their latest album Ojos Del Sol is excellent.
  • WED 4/18 - Emma Lee Toyoda - Vera Project - Emma Lee Toyoda tore it up at our Clash covers night, and has just returned from a few months on the road. Should be a good welcome home show.
  • FRI 4/20 - Naked Giants - Cafe Racer - The concert for choice is a benefit for NARAL Pro-Choice Washington. Naked Giant's album Sluff came out just a few weeks ago.
  • FRI 4/20 - Sera Cahoone - Benaroya Hall - This show is a record release for The Flora String Sessions, with Cahoone backed by violin, viola, and cello.
  • FRI 4/20 & SAT 4/21 - Erik Blood - Lo-Fi - Be sure to check out my producer Owen's band Newagehealers at Seagaze fest as well, tell him I sent you!
  • MON 4/23 - Django Django - Neumous - You can also catch Django Django Monday night at Neumos. Their third album Marble Skies came out earlier this year.
