PJ Randhawa

Facing Race reporter

I’m PJ Randhawa, the new Investigative Race and Equity Reporter for the award-winning Facing Race Unit. Combining my investigative skills with my advocacy and problem-solving abilities, I’m dedicated to telling important stories about race and justice in the Pacific Northwest.

Prior to joining KING 5, I was the Lead Investigative Reporter at KSDK in St. Louis. While there, my investigative reporting exposed corruption in police departments, mismanagement in city and state departments, civil rights violations by medical facilities and oversights in the law surrounding sexual assault and cyber stalking.

But it’s not just about exposing and reporting on difficult stories; for me it’s also about the follow-through. With my persistence and dedication, I’ve successfully petitioned lawmakers to introduce and change laws, charge suspects, re-open criminal cases as well as recover thousands of dollars in unfair bills and fees for viewers.

My dedication to the truth and standing up for people’s rights has earned me multiple awards, including four Regional Emmy awards, a Regional Edward R. Murrow Award, several Missouri Broadcast awards and an International Sikh Award for anchoring.

Telling stories is my passion – one of my favorites was traveling with 22 South Carolina WW2 veterans to Normandy France for the 70th Anniversary of D-Day.

Moving to Seattle is a dream come true for me and has also brought me closer to my roots – which are in Canada!

I was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and am the proud daughter of immigrant parents. My parents moved to Canada from the Punjab region of India in the 1970s. After a “VERY” uneventful childhood, I moved to Chicago for college and eventually went to graduate school at DePaul University.

When I’m not investigating race and justice stories for KING 5, I’m exploring Seattle with my dog, Yogi (a temperamental but kind pug).

I would love to hear from you! If you have a story idea, or need help with an issue, my email is PJRandhawa@king5.com. Look for me on Twitter (@PJ_onTV) and Facebook (@PJRReports).
