Inmate back in custody after escaping from work crew near Olympia

Authorities located and apprehended Javier Lopez-Esteves nearly seven hours after he escaped.

An inmate escaped from a Capitol State Forest work crew near Olympia on Tuesday morning.

Javier Lopez-Esteves, 28, escaped about 10 a.m. Law enforcement located and apprehended him at 5:14 p.m.

Lopez-Esteves has been convicted of unlawful possession of a firearm and two counts of manufacture, deliver, or possession with intent to deliver narcotics.

He is serving a 45-month sentence and is expected to be released in April 2019.
