A major I-5 bridge span over the Skagit River collapsed without warning on May 23. Three people in two vehicles plummeted into the water. They were all safely rescued. It took nearly two months to put a temporary span into place. The permanent span opened on September 15, 2013. Many of KING 5's first images of the collapsed span came from our Facebook community.
