Three-Year-Old, Brayden Carpenter has Leukemia. The youngest in a family of 5. His dad Steve lost his job about a month before the diagnosis and his wife Melissa has been working, but since the toddler only wants his mom she's taken a leave of absence so she can be with him. My friends and I have arranged a few fundraisers and I have organized a Facebook group "ForBrayden" of over 500 people now and posted informational posts/flyers on how to donate help. Bank and Paypal accounts have been arranged and more fund raisers are in the works. This family was struggling a bit before, but now that the mom can't work, they are looking at disaster. I was hoping the media would pick us up so we could let the community at large know this family of 5 is so worth helping.

An interesting twist in our efforts has been that the parents are part of a dart league community, and miraculously several almost vicious rivals are putting aside their differences and coming together to raise funds for this family. Three or 4 "dart houses" are on the list of fund raising events now, but I am concerned for the family still as they have 2 other children and a mortgage to manage while Brayden goes through Chemotherapy which he just started at Mary Bridge Children's Hospital.

The family can be available for photos and interviews, plus a family spokes person will be available at each fundraiser. Additionally, I would be glad to supply photos and information if the effort could be mentioned by your company with contribution options? (attached)

Next Fundraiser this Saturday at Pied Piper Pub in Kent. Gift and Service baskets will be auctioned. Contributions by local businesses like Starbucks, Kona Coffee, Woodworks, Soggy Doggy and many more. Charity dart tournament to follow auction. Huge thank you from the family

(North Kitsap, WA) A 49 year old Indianola man was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center's trauma unit after receiving serious burns in an Indianola home fire this evening.

Firefighters from North Kitsap Fire and Rescue, Poulsbo and Bainbridge Island Fire Departments, and the Suquamish Police responded to the fire on Sisters Sky Lane in Indianola last night just before 9pm. The first units arrived on scene within 3 minutes and found the garage of the house fully involved and the fire quickly spreading into the main house. A speed boat parked near the garage ignited, and the nearby house was showing signs of ignition because of the intense heat. Firefighters poured more than 10,000 gallons of water on the residence and had the fire under control within 20 minutes. They also doused the neighbouring house and prevented the fire from spreading.

Medics treated the injured man on scene and then transported him to a Bainbridge Island fire station, where he was later airlifted. The other residents, a 49 year old mother and her 16 year old daughter were not injured. Their adult children, 27 and 24 year old females, a 1 year old grandchild, and three dogs, were visiting at the time of the fire and they were also uninjured.

Bystanders said the family explained that when they were in their living room, they heard noises. When the father went to the garage to investigate and opened the garage door, he was overwhelmed with flames.

Total damage estimates are unknown at this time but the garage was completely destroyed, as well as a truck that was parked in the garage, a motor boat, and a portion of the main residence. The Kitsap County Fire Marshal is investigating the incident. The Suquamish Tribe and family members are assisting the family and it is unknown at this time whether the home was insured.

I was walking the waterfront when I observed several Everett police vehicles arrive at South E-dock. The officers went down on the dock and appeared to be removing someone from a sailboat. Flames suddenly erupted on the central part of the sailboat followed by a loud explosion and fireball. Something like a propane tank exploded. The boat was quickly engulfed in flames. Boaters from another dock attempted to respond to the fire prior to the fire department's arrival however it appeared that police kept them away.
