This was my first visit to the Lavender Festival in Sequim and I had no idea it was so enormous. I met people from Maine to Arizona. I visited four of the many lavender farms and learned about different kinds of lavender and how the flowers are cut and put into distillation tanks to gather their precious oils. Did you know a two gallon jug of the distilled oil is worth about $15,000 according to a worker at the Purple Haze Farm? There were lavender products of every kind from soaps, creams, sachets, eye cushions, even lavender ice cream and lavender tea. Bunches of the sweet purple flowers were sold by vendors on every corner of the street fair. If you haven't loved lavender before, you'll fall in love with it after visiting this wonderful and fragrant festival.
