On Monday, March 4 I looked out the window to see this fine feathered friend perched in a tree that sits maybe 20 feet past our fence line. I was terribly excited, and ran to get the camera, took several images and posted them to Facebook. Later in the afternoon I took the dog outside to see the eagle back again, this time against a gorgeous blue sky. Again I ran for the camera and popped off a few shots. I know there is a nesting pair in the area (we're on a cul-de-sac in Port Orchard, this is not exactly wild kingdom), and have seen them circling in the past, but never this close. Wednesday I was working at my desk and looked up just in time to see the lower part of the bird, with some little brown fuzzy creature in its talons swoop past the window - maybe 6 feet high and not 8 feet from the house. Incredible! Come to think of it, I haven't seen too many squirrels lately...
