We noticed this unusual ice formation, growing out of our basalt rock bird bath this morning. We checked it out and found that it was an "ice spike" or "ice tower". It was a triangular crystal "spike", about five inches tall. The wiki made it sound like it was somewhat rare. Most grow out of ice trays, using distilled water. Pretty "cool", huh?
