Today (11/8/12) USO began the largest Northwest expansion of military support services since World War II. USO Northwest has expanded beyond the Puget Sound Area to provide morale, welfare and recreation programs and services to active-duty military, military families and veterans throughout Alaska, Idaho, Oregon and Washington State. The expansion began today as USO Northwest unveiled a major renovation of the USO center at Joint Base Lewis-McChord and renamed the center in honor of Joan Shalikashvili, USO Northwest board member and volunteer, and her husband, the late Gen. John Shalikashvili, former chairman of the Joint Chiefs under President Clinton.
