Bitter Lake is waning by evaporation; you can walk twenty feet from shore before you reach water, but I spotted three Pied-Billed Grebes. They are immature. They seem to be doing well at the lake. They dive for fish, and are successful hunters. I've seen them come up with good size pieces of fish, although I nver got a good shot. When a mother and her little son started feeding the ducks, the whole wing flew in to share the feast - except the Grebes.
