On July 10, 2012 Retired Tacoma firefighter Dan Carlman decided to visit his son Joel in Washington DC. After little consideration, Dan decided not to make the journey the conventional manner, such as Airline, Busline, or private vehicle, but by way of his new recumbent bike he admiringly refers to as the "Honey Badger". Dan posted his solo adventure on his Facebook page for all of his friends and family to share with him. Along the way, his memorable and exciting encounters with people and places were read and enjoyed by everyone. Dan's trip was highlighted with his son Joel joining him on the final leg and triumphant entry into the city of Wash. DC on October 2, 2012.
