This morning on Sept 9th, my family was just about to leave town and spend the day at the Puyallup Fair. As soon as we stepped outside, my dad noticed smoke coming from the top of the hill. We were very surprised and shocked to see this, because we've never seen a fire come in our area before. After a few hours the fire grew stronger and made its way towards #1 Canyon. We watched the fire for a few hours, but then we noticed that it was making its way over the top of our hill. It didn't appear to be going fast or even getting stronger. It just made its way over the ridge. Around noon the fire started heading downhill towards our house.(Timelapse video) We started getting evacuation warnings from the sheriff and the fire department. Though my family wasn't worried, it was something we couldn't keep our mind off. As evening came along, the fire was now reaching the neighborhood and all the fire department was there. Their was even a helicopter that made runs all day long, filling up at the closest cannal and heading off to put out the fire. Most of the fire was out by sundown and my family thought most of it was over. Only a few hours went by when suddenly the hillside was up in flames again. I hope this fire will go out soon.
