For awhile now when I've been outside I noticed that one of the hummingbirds sounded different when flying than the others. I thought maybe he had a bad wing or something. Then a few days ago I noticed that the "noisy" one had a purple flash on his chin. He's quite wiley about not having his photograph taken. The photo is the best I have got but it was enough to ID him. I've never seen a Black Chinned here before and the four maps for them I found online, none show them into western Washington. I checked with the local bird expert here in Bow and she said she's never heard of one closer than Methow Valley.
