A lightning strike fire started overnight in the Potato Creek Drainage in the Entiat Valley. Two Forest Service helicopters fill their buckets just off the river bank from Casey and Linda Phillips' home 15.2 miles up the valley. Photos taken by Casey and Linda. If you look closely at the photo of the one helicopter that is refueling you can see a deet looking on just int the trees beyond the nose of the Helicopter. The fire is just over the ridgeline north of our home and is no longer putting out much smoke. fortunatly the pilots had easy access to water deep enough to dip the buckets into. They were back dipping about every four to five minutes. They started about 1:30 pm and I can no longer see smoke over the ridge. Either the wind has shifted or they are winning!
