When I looked for spots to take photos of the Lake Union Fireworks, I didn't find many places that would see the barge without getting a bunch of buildings or electrical wires in the way. My reference point of search was my parents retirement condo on Fairview Ave. My photo shooting was an overnight thing, since I really didn't want to take the bus home with all my equipment after the fireworks. I stayed the night at my parents. I finally took the shot from a very difficult angle to catch shots from my parents condo deck. It really didn't have a northern view, but I knew if the fireworks where high enough I would get a exciting shot. I got many photos of the fireworks that where over the roof of the condo complex. It gives a straight on approach of looking into the fireworks with a 300mm lens and a Canon T1i. It was exciting to catch some of the best fireworks that have been set off from Lake Union and I feel I may never have the opportunity again to take from this vantage point again. Things change fast when being with an elderly family.
The bay shot is just west of the bridge over Lake Union and I caught independent fireworks going off. I never knew when they would fly, so it was difficult to get shots of independent fireworks going off. I love making nights of the Fourth when I have fireworks to take photos of, but most the time I'd probably be on the street grabbing an edge of a sidewalk to catch Photos on the fourth.
