While this may not be the best shot of an orca in the world, this sighting is very special to me. Since day one of living in Seattle, I've wanted to see orca whales in the Puget Sound. I had heard stories of people seeing them from shore around the city, but never in a million years did I think I'd be lucky enough to see them myself. But today, I got lucky ;) My wife and I had seen the whales earlier that day (which was incredible in itself as they were no more than 200 ft off shore at one point), but later on during sunset we decided to head up to a bluff in my neighborhood hoping, with the off chance, that they had decided to hang around (and this time with my camera in hand). To our amazement, the pod was still there, playing and jumping, perfectly framed with the Olympic Mountains in the background. At sunset. Today was one of the best days in Seattle that I have ever had!
