This Cooper's Hawk sat outside my kitchen window for several days. I thought he was there for the wild bird seed I had put out under my cedar tree to attact rare birds. Rare birds like the Varied Thrush and Evening Grosbeaks. A friend set me straight. He was there to EAT the rare birds that dined on my seed. I was also told to keep my cats inside. Hawks will knock them out and then dine on them. These amazing birds are normally seen on light poles as you drive down the freeways. They usually don't come down so close for any length of time. I guess I had a buffet he couldn't pass up. After the third day, I decided to go out and scare him away. When I got about 4 feet away, he just hopped further down the fence like a crow does. He eventually left in his own good time. What beautiful bird!
