Hiking in the Olympics is what I do with my two brothers to get away from it all. Monday, Aug 15th found us on the trail to Marmot Pass from the Big Quilcene River trailhead. 5.5 miles (all UP) to an altitude of 6000 feet as we skirted the south side of Buckhorn Mountain got us to the pass, where the clouds finally broke up and we were treated to the view seen here, looking west. The Royal Basin winds back behind the ridgeline in front of us, and Grey Wolf Ridge rises to the right side and behind the Basin. A wonderful day of weather perfect for a hike!
