Why is it on many warm summer nights, when a cool breeze would be very welcome...no air is moving?

 

When it's sunny and warm in the Puget Sound area, we typically have an area of high pressure sitting overhead. That is an area of 'sinking' air, with very little sideways motion...or wind.
