What was that blast of wind Saturday that toppled trees?
The blast was northeast of Arlington; one area affected included the ice cave trail near Verlot. One viewer reported 16 trees downed. The cause was a microburst from a thunderstorm; that's a highly focused downdraft, which, in this case, lasted about 45 seconds. Wind speeds may approach 100 mph. No measurements were made of the force of this microburst.
