Was La Nina responsible for all of the wild weather since December?

A NASA climate scientist named Bill Patzert doesn't think so. Last December, there's no question La Nina was strong. Satellite analysis showed a large pool of cool water near the equator, which is consistent with the La Nina pattern. But by spring, La Nina pulled a disappearing act. Patzert calls the result "La Nada". That allowed the jet stream to run 'amok', as though it was on steroids...resulting in unusually strong storms.
