The last time it rained...hundreds of worms came out. Is this normal...should we be concerned?
Hmm...I'm a meteorologist, not a worm-ologist...but let me try. According to worm experts I spoke with...it's normal...and no reason to be concerned...unless of course you're a worm that gets stranded on drying pavement. According to one worm expert-worms don't have lungs, they breathe through their skin and when the ground gets really wet...they emerge to breathe. Another expert says worms emerge to find mates...that the surface is a kind of 'worm singles bar'. Pick your favorite explanation!
