I heard wind farms can cause global warming...is this true?
This claim has no evidence to support it...arose from three media outlets that either mis-interpreted or mis-stated the results of research examining the local impact of wind farms. That study showed the circulation of wind vanes mixes cool air that tends to accumulate near the ground with warmer air near the top of the vanes, resulting in minor warming in the immediate vicinity of the vanes. There was no impact found beyond the area of the wind 'farms'. Most importantly, there was no evidence of any impact of the wind farms on local regional or global weather or climate.
