Have the heavy rains ended the drought in the midwestern states?

The U.S. Drought Monitor is updated weekly. It indicates drought conditions are largely gone east of the Mississippi...but remains to the west. Drought conditions are worst from western Kansas to Texas, as well as southeastern Colorado and much of New Mexico. An interesting aside, rains have raised the level of Lake Michigan by 2"; keep in mind this Great Lake has a surface area of more than 22,000 square miles.
