Could 'Geo-engineering' halt global warming?
First, let's define what's meant by 'geo-engineering'. It refers to human attempts to impact weather and climate...such as launching mirrors in orbit (to reflect sunlight away from the earth) or injecting chemicals into the sky to 'seed' clouds and produce rain...or clear away fog. A recent study by the National Center for Atmospheric Research says 'geo-engineering' can't cure the problem...and is more an issue of 'picking your poison'...since it would likely have adverse side effects. Let me give just one example. Global rainfall is expected to increase with warming...but an attempt to counter this effect, could reduce rainfall in drought-sensitive areas.
