Why is your science called "meteorology" when it has nothing to do with meteors?

Why is your science called "meteorology" when it has nothing to do with meteors?

The name comes from two Gree words; "meteoros" which means "that which is up above" or "high in the sky"...and from the word "logia" which means "study of". So "meteorology"..."study of that which is above."
