Times writer: Highway 2 kept open even after fatal accident

Seattle Times writer Alexa Vaughn says in an article in the Seattle Times that Department of Transportation officials kept Highway 2 east of Stevens Pass open for much of the week before Christmas despite knowing snow-heavy trees were snapping onto the road. Before the highway was shut, trees had fallen on two cars in separate accidents, killing two and injuring nine.
