REDMOND, Wash. - Police believe thieves may be targeting people they see heading inside a theater.
Once they break into your car, they grab the car registration and they know exactly where to head
Thieves ransacked the Van Wierigans’ home Saturday night. They are upset about everything that was taken, but they're shocked at how they were targeted - someone broke into their car while they were at the movies..
"The police knew right away, they asked us for our registration and as soon as we said it was gone they said we're sending police to your house,” said Debbie Van Wierigan.
The thieves were gone before the police got there. They took mostly jewelry, including one very precious piece.
"I had my original wedding set it was an antique gold and it's beautiful, and I was going to have it reset and it's missing so it must have been taken. It was an heirloom, it was 35 years ago,” said Debbie.
They were up late cleaning and they didn't sleep real well. Still, they didn't cancel their gathering.
"I decided I'm not going to let those guys ruin my Easter,” said Debbie.
Police say one way to avoid this is use the lock on your glove box and keep all your personal information locked in there.
If you don't have one they recommend taking it with you when you're away from the car.
