SEATTLE – Police are still searching for the person who made a cell phone threat to kill children Thursday near Washington Middle School. But that's all they will say about the investigation, leaving parents, community members and other schools taking drastic precautions to keep their kids safe.
Police were able to trace the cell phone call to an area near the school, but they aren't saying if they have a specific suspect.
There was again a heavy police presence at the school as students were dismissed on Friday.
Just a few yards away at Giddens School, leaders made a last minute decision Friday morning to cancel their yearly Martin Luther King, Jr. march.
"The decision we made was a tough one but I believe it was the right decision," said Rober Kogane, head of Giddens School.
"The fact that this is happening on a day when we're supposed to be marching for peace is, I don't know the right word, but it's unfortunate," said Giddens parent Christina Mallet.
Washington Middle School also canceled its annual Martin Luther King, Jr. celebration.
Counselors were brought into the school Friday to talk with students who may be having a hard time with the news of the threat.
