SEATTLE - Hundreds of boaters cruised out to Lake Washington Saturday to kick off the first day of the boating season.

More than 250 boats took part in the annual parade through the Montlake Cut.

Two small flotillas of yachts carrying musicians from the University of Washington Husky and Washington State University Cougar Marching Bands set the musical tempo for the day.  Participating yachts decorated to this year's theme: "Porthole to Paradise."

The Washington Husky men won their 6th straight Windermere Cup on Saturday about eight seconds ahead of second place Argentina. UVA was third.

The Husky women won the Erickson Cup  with a seven-seat win over Otago. Gonzaga was third.
