The incredible camera on the KING helicopter can zoom to read the license plate on a car from well above 1000ft in the air. Not only are there are regulations on flying over wildlife but the pilot is also very experienced...rest assured he stayed well away to avoid disturbing them! :) We all love our orca pods here in WA!

At least they are "polite" and don't chew above the water line so we have to see that part of them.... Tough luck for the seal.... The helicopter was not making a wash so it was probably 300 to 400 feet up.

I wonder how far off the KING 5 helicopter was from the whales? Seems like it would disrupt and stress the whales far more than any boat.

What an awesome video. From the shows I've seen on TV it looks like they are very methodically orchastrating their hunt. The way they are swimming side by side on short dives, the they turn and circle back. I wonder if it is salmon or seal. Whatever it is the team work, skill and awesome power of these animals is just majestic.

It is SO good to see the whales. I used to do research for J,K and L pods years ago and it is like seeing old friends come home. Thanks for the video!
