******

A motorcyclist is behind bars after leading the Georgia State Patrol and other Atlanta law enforcement agencies on a high speed chase Tuesday morning.

The chase began on the surface streets of West Atlanta and continued on I-285.

The motorcyclist, who didn't appear to be wearing a helmet, was seen weaving in and out of traffic and reached a high rate of speed on I-285, passing several cars.

Troopers from the Georgia State Patrol and other law enforcement agents were able to stop the motorcyclist by boxing him in along Roosevelt Highway.

Once boxed in, the driver of the motorcycle swerved off the road, into a grassy area, where he lost control and laid down the bike.

After crashing the bike, the motorcyclist initially stood up to face authorities, then immediately laid down on the ground with his hands extended.

He was then taken into custody by the Georgia State Patrol.

He did not appear to be seriously injured after the crash.

The circumstances that led to the chase were not immediately reported.

What possible purpose could this "story" serve? How is this of any importance to residents in the state of Washington? I'm extremely disappointed in the editorial staff's decision to carry this brief; it only serves to perpetuate the negative stereotype cast upon motorcyclists within this state, and in general. Every day, police are lead on high-speed pursuits by automobile drivers. Do we ever see automobile chases from half-way across the nation as news within Washington? It seems not. I am a motorcyclist. I do not have a brand. My current stable consists of four motorcycles, each of a different manufacture. During the day, I am a professional in datacomm. Each member of society should be treated equally, and I am tired of this bias.

What is the point of this story and how does this have anything to do with the Pacific Northwest? Seriously, what was the editorial thought process? "Hey...an idiot on a bike in Georgia decided to run from the authorities...and we have motorcycles on our roads...so...OH MY GOSH! IT'S ARMAGEDDON WAITING TO HAPPEN!!!" I don't ride a motorcycle, but I do know when motorcyclists are being shown in a hyperbolically negative way...and this certainly qualifies! Gee..having a slow news day, KING 5?

Yeah! What they said! Mike and Spam hit it on the head.....What's the freaking point K5 ? We can Youtube this stuff all day long, but we don't. It has no freaking relevance except to perpetuate myths. You guys really don't even have reporters anymore do ya? All you've got left is a staff that cruises the net.....Used to called plagiarizing when it involved real writers.

Whats wrong K5? Not enough high speed riders in Hwy-18?? Dudes lucky he aint splattered all over the Ga St Hwy.

He could have totally out-ran that police Camaro. Why the hell did he slow down? Anyways, I agree with speeadork, I've seen Harleys out-run and out-manuever cops better than that. And stryker, it's not that we are riding too fast, cars/trucks are going 5mph slower than posted speed limit on Hwy-18, especially at night between I-90 and Issaquah-Hobart exit.

Just so you jokers who drive cars and trucks know, not all bikers ride this way, 99% of the time we're watching out for you. Most any one who rides can tell you they can out run any police car/truck, but you cant out run that motorola. Besides that, this took place in Georgia, why do we care up here.

Well said michaelhall, I am 55 years old and have a degree in electrical engineering, been riding for almost 50 years.and own 2 street bikes, one of them will do over 170mph and has 160 horses, but most people I know have enough common sense not to use it. So why all the publicity King5 ?????
