SEATTLE-A member of the Legion of Boom took over the airwaves at a local radio station to talk football with the 12th Man before the Seahawks leave for the Super Bowl.
Cornerback Walter Thurmond took questions from fans during the Eric Powers and Dirty Harry Show on KUBE 93 Friday afternoon.
"It is great to interact with the fans," said Thurmond. "We have some of the best fans in the country, you know, and everyone is very supportive of the team."
The team is scheduled to leave for the Super Bowl this weekend. A large crowd is expected when the team departs Sunday morning.
Friday night fans showed up in downtown Seattle to sign a large “12th Fan” banner which will fly over Met Life Stadium before the game. PEMCO Insurance is hoping to collect 12,000 signatures before the 100 foot by 40 foot banner is sent to New Jersey.
“2005 was a big year, but I just don't remember the excitement and enthusiasm as it is today. It feels like the 12th Man has grown," said Eric Powers with KUBE 93.
With the media blitz next week and all the distractions, Thurmond says the team is focused and ready for the game.
"Our goal is to bring back a championship to this city," said Thurmond.
