Jason McKeever served 14 years in the Navy and when the father of two young kids left the service, he was owed $47,517.12. In fact it's written on his official paperwork.
"It's a pretty good amount of money and I was looking forward to it, especially with the transition of going into a new job and I don't know how much I'll be making or how long it will be until I start working," he said.
The problem we detailed in our first report was that Jason only received around $15,000 and the Navy wouldn't give him an answer as to when he'd get the rest of his money.
"It's almost an embarrassment. My wife's asking me why, what's taking so long, and it's embarrassing to say that's the military. That's the Navy," he said.
After Jason called, the Navy told us that Jason had been paid in full.
After I spoke to Senator Patty Murray's office, the Navy decided to send Jason some more cash and that's where the story ended last month.
We were able to get Jason $9,000 more, but the Navy says he will have to jump through some hoops to get the rest, specifically a hearing showing proof of the mistake.
Jesse Jones: "You saw Jason McKeever record? Did he serve well?"
Lt. Cmdr William Marks: "He had a fine record, everything was in order and when we looked at that - that's the first thing we checked."
Little did I know that Lt. Commander William Marks from the USS Abraham Lincoln watched the story and got involved.
"Thanks to your story. We found some errors in his paperwork and when found out about it, we did some research and looked into the facts of the matter," he said.
Lt. Cmdr Marks and the staff of the USS Abraham Lincoln fired off a number of calls to Washington D.C. to ensure the former missile tech would receive his money.
"The fact is Mr. McKeever is an American citizen, a taxpayer and we want to help him out. The bottom line, it was the right thing to do," he said.
And just a couple of weeks after getting involved, Jason got $16,000 more, with the rest promised by Navy brass in the next few weeks.
They really put in a lot of work to make this happen and they also called me numerous times to let me know they are reviewing everybody else this may have happened to anyone else in the future.
The crew of the USS Abraham Lincoln really did a great job stepping up for Jason. Jason says he wants to use the money to buy a new house for his family.
