Erzebet Dorney traveled to Morocco, made friends, and won the support of an international custody rights group that worked with her around the clock to bring her boy home just in time for Christmas.
The anticipation filled the air at Seatac. The Dorney family was excited to finally welcome home Erzebet.
"She's always been sort of the gathering point of the family," said mother Margaret Dorney.
For 364 days life stood still for the Mercer Island family. Thousands of miles away in Morocco, Erzebet was fighting the courts and her estranged husband, fighting to bring home her three year old son back to Seattle.
"My grandson left the day after Christmas last year and I haven't seen him since," said Peter Dorney.
This family refused to give up, writing letters and supporting Erzebet as she navigated through the Morroccan court system. All for the moment when they can finally welcome the two home.
Erzebet and Yussuf arrived at Seatac Saturday afternoon to family and friends.
"I just told myself I wasn't going to come home without him," said Erzebet. "With so much love around, I'm really blessed."
Dorney has already gotten e-mails and calls for help from other women going through similar custody battles. King County prosecutors have filed first degree felony charges against Dorney's ex-husband for custodial interferance. He remains in Morocco.
