As May Day demonstrators marched in Seattle, crowds also hit the streets of Olympia.

Every Olympia police officer on the force was working today, and the city has gone to neighboring agencies and the sheriff's office for extra backup.

The May Day celebration in Olympia was being called the "Festival of Resistance," rallying against what "cancerous capitalism."

Shortly before 3 p.m., about 125 demonstrators walked up and down the main streets of downtown Olympia.

The march route took protesters past a couple of the big name banks in town. The activists said those banks are greedy corporations.

They did not have a permit for the march, but Olympia Police said as long as they kept moving - which they did -  it wouldn't be a problem.

Just the police presence was unsettling for some.

"I don't really think it's necessary,” said Eva Donjacour.

KING 5's Elisa Hahn and Drew Mikkelsen were in Olympia and covered the march on Twitter:
