An effort is under way to change how local jurisdictions in Washington state can prevent teen smoking.

The legislature eliminated all funding for the state's comprehensive tobacco prevention and control program. The King County Board of Health is voting Thursday on a resolution to ask the legislature to give local jurisdictions and communities the right to address the marketing of tobacco to kids.

Joy Gilroy of the Washington Association of Local Public Health Officials discussed the issue with KING 5's Mark Wright.
