Fifty years ago today Seattle’s Jim Whittaker stood on top of the world, the first American to summit Mount Everest. He says his epic journey almost didn't end well when he became dehydrated after running out of water. He also ran out of oxygen as he reached the top. KING 5’s Meg Coyle has the story.
