BURLINGTON -- A local couple was desperate; Mike Shores was leaving for boot camp soon and wanted to make sure he married his sweetheart on Valentine's Day before he left.

His bride, Amber Webber, found out the county courthouse doesn't do weddings on Fridays, so they called Jeanne Law, the manager at Warren Jeweler in Burlington where they had bought their rings the day before.

A wedding? No problem, said Jeanne, "I'm an ordained minister, I can do that for you!"

"We decided we would just take what we could get," Amber said. "She (Jeanne) was just the nicest woman," grinned Mike.

So the couple said their "I do's" amidst the cases full of bling. Jeanne even got them a small chocolate cake with a red Valentine on top.

"We've never done a wedding here before," laughed Jeanne, who can list jewelry designer, store manager and now wedding planner on her resume. "After this, maybe we'll do more!"
