Today is Valentine's Day, which means you are running out of time to think of a gift if you have not already done so. Chef and entertaining expert Heather Christo has some great ideas for last minute gifts that look incredible, are thoughtful and most importantly, easy to do.
1. Adorned Chocolate Boxes
Purchase an inexpensive box of chocolates from a local drugstore or grocery store and embellish the lid with wrapping paper, origami and scraps of ribbon.
2. Homemade Massage Oils
Combine jojoba oil and essential oils, (the ratio is about 5 drops essential oil to every Tb of jojoba oil.) Combine in vials or bottles and cork or seal.
3. Homemade Bath Salts
1 cup Epsom salt, ½ cup Kosher salt, 12 drops essential oil. Shake and store in an airtight container to preserve fragrance.
4. Bath Tea
Choose organic tea bags (any flavor) and attach two heart stickers (with the string in between) where the tag originally was. Place a few bags in your bath.
5. Homemade Coupon Book
These accordion style books are meant to be full of special mementos, gift certificates (homemade or purchased) and certificates for “romantic gestures” of your choosing. Use a mailing box, card stock paper, double stick tape and then all different envelopes, note cards and items, quotes and poems that are personal. Of course, these can also be made for your children and filled with sweet things for them, or for fun things for you to do together.
