Hey, it's the new year! Don't complain about the broadcast. Be fortunate that you were at home watching this and you were out of the cold! There are many Americans that are still happy about the new year despite them not having televisions and having a warm place to stay. Start off fresh and don't be all fussy over something so petty. :)

Well, being sick with the flu..I did enjoy watching from my couch, but I agree with pastachick about the logo's. Now there's 2 on the screen..pretty soon, they'll have all 4 corners filled with junk. And I tried to download the video on FB, and once it gets to about 2:30, it freezes up and stays there for hours. I've tried it several times..very frustrating. If anyone was able to watch the entire video all the way through, please say so. Thanks, and Happy New Year!

Another blunder to add to those of past years. I guess this is the "norm" for King5. Expect the worst and you will never be disappointed. I especially liked the drunk chic in the background on Meagan's shoulder throughout the broadcast "WOOOO-HOOO!"

A Little Perspective .... Fireworks on New Year's Eve are always nice to see, despite any technical or promotional gaffes that may take place. In some of the unstable and dictatorial societies around the world, the only 'pyrotechnics' raining down on the populace are real rockets and live ammo. As Abraham Lincoln once remarked ... "You can please some of the people some of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time." Very best wishes to everyone for a Healthy, Happy and Prosperous 2012. ~ Peace ~

Another disappointment-- the irritating Wimmer logo on the left. I understand you have a corporate sponsor, but please... you could have announced that the fireworks were being brought to us thanks to their generosity and that would have been enough. You also did an interview with them, which was BORING! On the plus side, I did like all the 'outer space' themed music. The scratchy audio from the 1969 moon landing detracted from the show, though. Just music would have been better. Yes, I know it is the 50th anniversary of the Space Needle this year... I also agree with everyone else about the lack of a 10 second countdown clock. How about some lit numbers, starting with 10 at the bottom of the Needle, then having the numbers light up as they go up the Needle, as we count down? When the #1 lights up right under the bottom of the Needle, then the fireworks start and it is 12 midnight... Thanks in advance for considering it...

What news stations doesn't have a NYE Countdown? Oh I know...King 5! I cannot begin to say how very disappointed I was watching this. I really should have switched over to ABC's New Year's Rockin' Eve! But... I wanted to see something from my hometown... Well needless to say, I won't make that mistake this New Years Eve. What makes this even worse, the news casters mentioned the fireworks goof from a couple of years ago... Here's another one to add to the list... :(

Way to really bring in the new years King 5. Did you only have your B squad working last night? Who the heck does not have a ten second counter to new years on the screen. What a disaster at least I know not to ever trust the King 5 news TEAM with my special holiday moments. LET'S GO KIRO. LET'S GO KIRO. LET'S GO KIRO.

And gfbhwo? I agree with you about the last minute news plug.

What happened with the coverage last night, KING5? No countdown, hard to see the final 10 seconds shooting off from the sides of the Needle (and with no countdown clock, it was hard to tell what was going on when there was only a closeup of the Needle), and it seemed like there were sound difficulties at the beginning. Not very good coverage this year; my family and I thought something went wrong with the fireworks at first. Very sad; robbed us (and probably a bunch of others) the fun of counting it off and screaming Happy New Year at the right time.

I agree, the TV coverage was terrible. No sound, no countdown, no narrative. Fortunately, we figured out what was going on in time to pop the bubbly. Hoping it was someone's error and not on purpose.

The TV coverage at the Space Needle was lamentable. There was not even a countdown on the screen before the fireworks started. The juxtaposition of the football news with the real triumphs and tragedies of 2011 in the 3-minute rundown of the news right before midnight was tacky if not downright crass.
